4 Tips for Selecting the Right Office Furniture

By Bryan Low

A lot of people fail to realize that choosing the right furniture for your office is just as important as choosing the right office. It affects the office productivity and also contributes to the well-being on the staff. Before going to your local furniture store, read on to know the things that you must take into consideration.

1. Your budget

Do not waste your money. Every cent you spend for your office is an investment, and you want to make sure it stays that way. Before buying any furniture, consider its price. How much money is a reasonable amount to spend of office chairs?  How many office chairs will you buy? By determining your budget beforehand, you can easily narrow down you choices. If you really have a tight budget, you can even opt to get your office furniture at a second-hand furniture shop. Make sure you do your research well and consider the quality of these products. You should also know the going rates for furniture used in a certain time span.

2. Your requirements

Your staff will be at the office for most of the day, and it is simply kind to provide them with a comfortable table and chair. They will also perform better at work if you do so. Aside from tables and chairs, you also can style your office interior by buying other furniture depending on your business type. Are you a law firm? Are you an advertising agency? The styles vary. Do you like cubicles where your staffs can focus on their individual jobs? Or do you like a cafeteria like atmosphere (open space) where the staffs can discuss and collaborate? Whatever your styles and preferences are, prioritize your staff’s comfort.

3. Practicality and Flexibility

This is also a very important thing to consider. Does your table have enough leg space? Does your table have drawers to store documents and files? If yes are the answers, kudos to you for making the right choice.

4. The size

Common sense tells you to buy furniture which is in proportion to your office space. Bringing huge chunky pieces of furniture will consume more space in your office, making it look smaller and more compact. This will in turn disallow your staff to move around freely. First of all, measure the dimensions of your office space and slowly do you research on how to maximize it. There are ways in which you can make your office look spacious by arranging you furniture a certain way. The bottom line is to provide your office with the right furniture, proportional to the space to leave sufficient room for your staff.
